Frequently asked questions
How is TCTSY different from "regular" yoga?
The emphasis is not on the yoga "forms", shapes, or stretches themselves, but instead, uses yoga forms as opportunities for choice and decision making around moving or not moving one's body. It is an evidenced-based protocol to help rewire neural connections that have become disrupted from trauma.
TCTSY may look, feel and sound different from a public yoga class at a gym or studio and it may take a few tries to get used to. It often may feel slower to more moderate paced at the start however be assured you can take your preferred options and pace at any time!

Can I practice in person in Melbourne?
We are currently not taking 1-1 in person bookings as we are at capacity.
Are these sessions online? Do I need to turn my camera on?
The sessions are currently offered online via the Zoom platform. We ask that during the session, you choose whether your camera is on or off however the facilitator will be spotlighted during practice. If you are hoping to connect, we offer time before the session begins and/or right after the session ends to turn your camera on, unmute and connect for a couple of minutes (this is entirely optional).
Is there talking involved?
There is not a processing component to these sessions, which is why we ask that folks have another support system in place when joining.
Is this group therapy?
TCTSY group sessions are not group therapy and participants will not be asked to share trauma histories or to process memories. The facilitator at times may be a clinician however is there to hold the space for experiencing yoga.
Do I have to stay for the whole practice or can I come and go?
No, If you need or want to leave at any point, you are welcome to exit the meeting. You are also welcome to leave the meeting open and mute the sound or step into another room if you would like the option to return later in the practice.
