Many workplaces now have Mental Health First Aid Officers alongside First Aid and CPR Officers, and many people take the course for their own personal and professional life.

What is Standard Mental Health First Aid?
The 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to give initial support to someone who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
Will I become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider?
After the course you can complete an optional online assessment to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider for 3 years.

Our Accredited Standard MHFA Instructors.
What are the payment terms?
Minimum numbers apply. If you cancel with 28 or more days' notice, there is no charge. If you cancel with less than 28 days' notice, 50% of the total booking fee is charged. If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, 100% of the total booking fee is charged. To cancel, email enquiries@atec.vic.edu.au. Transfers are welcome, so you can nominate a colleague to attend in your place. If ATEC cancels, you can move to another date or get a full refund.
Can you run MHFA at our workplace?
Yes. Email enquiries@atec.vic.edu.au with your business name, contact person, preferred venue, number of participants and preferred dates. You can also enrol staff in our public courses.
Is this group therapy?
No. The course focuses on education and skill development. Some content may bring up emotions or memories. You will not be asked to share personal experiences, and we recommend having your own support in place.
Is there a shorter option?
Yes. Ask about our Mental Health Pulse Check Workshop, a condensed session for workplaces wanting a foundational mental health awareness session.
