I am not fit or flexible

That's ok, we all have different fitness levels and experience with yoga and pilates.

We suggest giving each practice at least 3 tries and remember it can take time for you to become familiar with the options that suit your body so be kind to yourself.

Plenty of options are provided and you can always ask questions or rest any time.

I leave each class feeling healthier and more positive! There is something special about doing yoga with a lovely group of people, never feeling pushed or judged. Feren tailors classes to suit all levels, I was personally challenged and loved every minute of it. I will be back!

JC

Having spent my year practising yoga with Feren, it has been nothing but fantastic. I feel revitalised and ready to go again week after week. She is very passionate, knowing how to challenge me and help me connect deeper

AC

Always supportive of those with injuries and generous with advice. Meditation and sound practice is extremely relaxing, especially when Feren uses the bowls!.

PS

She is a very encouraging teacher, and her passion for health and fitness really resonated with me. This is something that is evident within her classes…you can really tell that she cares.

Frequently asked questions

What is Mat Pilates?

Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises Joseph Pilates with over 500 exercises that can be practiced anywhere anytime sometimes involving props or other machines. Mat Pilates can be modified for any age, body or fitness level and even in a chair!

Pilates can help improve posture, coordination, body awareness and balance and so much more. You may get a bit shaky but we will have laughs and get to know each other along the way.

Note - this is not clinical Pilates but a group exercise class. If you have a severe injury please seek advice from your medical practitioner.

What is yoga?

Yoga incorporate breathing techniques, moving and meditation to help you connect with your mind and body.

We offer mat based yoga however chairs are available and we take a trauma sensitive approach to practices where you always have choice in how you move or rest.

Each we week we explore a combination practice of breathing, moving and stillness.

This approach to yoga is not about looking a certain way or reaching a "perfect pose". Join to connect with yourself and others in the community in moving meditation.

I can't do everything

That's okay!

Options are provided but you're always welcome to take variations that suit your body or rest any time.

Yoga & Pilates is more than just moving - it is about building body awareness, exploring your range of movement, building muscle memory, checking in to your levels of pain tolerance during recovery from injuries (or getting old) and practicing mindfulness.

The added benefit of joining our practices is that you will likely get to meet some fantastic community members.

It can take time for your body to get used to moving and breathing in a new way.

What should I wear?

  • shorts and a t-shirt
  • leggings and layered top
  • tracksuit
  • wide fitting elephant pants (you know the ones you see in Bali or Thailand).

I have a physical injury or disability

You are welcome to take choices in all forms that work for your body. You can always choose to stand, sit in a chair or floor, or lay down at anytime to practice regardless of what the facilitator is doing.

Yoga and Pilates can be practiced by any BODY including if you have limited mobility, flexibility and/or limbs.

If you are unsure please seek advice from your medical practitioner.
When I first started taking classes I was quite nervous but I fell in love with pilates instantly. I learned how to breath, how to move and where to focus when moving my body. I was new to it so I was clueless at first but Feren was always there to guide me step by step, suggesting different options so I didn’t feel intimidated or left behind, thinking that I'm not strong enough. If It was about just doing poses and reps I would've gotten bored and stopped after a few classes, but every time I practice, whether it is reformer pilates or mat pilates or yoga, they were with me, always observing and guiding making sure that I'm having fun while working out. I can say that now pilates has become part of my life. It is not just a workout to get muscles or get fit but it is all about having fun, listening to my body, becoming more confident.
